Ruins and Rocks

Here are additional photos from the Four Corners area.  Most of these are from Mesa Verde.  During the time we traveled through the area there was a huge wildfire burning in Utah which created a thick haze making photos of Shiprock difficult.  Without a Four Wheel Drive vehicle or perhaps a horse, it was impossible to get closer to cut down the haze.

I really love the solitude of this area and all the open, undeveloped landscapes.  It was quite a shock to drive into the city of Shiprock and be surrounded by McDonalds, KFC and etc.

Enjoy. . . or not.

Nice work. 2 and 3 are my favorites. 2 for the composition and the dynamic range. I love how it goes from the deep grays on the left to the lighter colors on the right. I also like how the sand dune leads right into the mesa. On 3 I love the composition...it seems endless.

It looks sooo sacred and #2 and #3 are impressing me. Dramatic but simple with a very special quality of light.

Love the black & white of mesa verde. I have been there and enjoyed it! But, I took all my pics in color, and found it hard to like them as much as I should. You have inspired me to go back to my photos and try them in Black & White. We'll see, I don't think I can top yours in any way. Thanks for the show.
