in this weeks light class, we were assigned to do various light ratios on the subject. each light ratio gives a dramatically different effect on how flat or dynamic your subject is. this last ratio i shot, 5:1, is the most contrasty. i liked that about it. sadly, we were required to frame all shots horizontally, with the subject centered (blah). but, i thought i gave it some interest with this weird light trick of my own. can you guess how i got this coloring sans photoshop? (hint: the background is white, and his shirt is grey) ;)

  • Not really sure, but my guess would be that you set your white balance manually and metered on the gray shirt.

  • No clue how you did that but I like the look. I tend to like contrasty photos and really like this one.
