does have a 3 dimensional feel to it...its a bit soft though, but neat.

I have to be honest I really don't care for this shot. I usually really like your stuff. I agree it is too soft.

I agree its a bit soft, and that leaves me wondering what it would have looked like sharp. But on the other hand the softness coupled with B&W makes it another type of image all together..kinda surrealish!

I think that you have done a wonderful job on the b/w conversion. the tonal range in this image is amazing. and I love the texture I see in the petals. it's sharp where it needs to be. IMO, a great example of a fine art photograph. I love it.

  • I have looked at this rose about 3 or 4 times since you posted it last night, and see that the feedback thus far is about split down the middle. I was wondering if it is just my middle aged eyes.... but I really find it too soft. My eye wanders and I can't find anything to focus on. I would have liked to have seen one sharp spot to rest my eye, then it could unfold around it. Because the nuances are all there.... it just lacks a focal point.

  • Thanks for the feedback. The soft focus really doesn't bug me though. vara sees what I see, more of an abstraction. That said, I think I'll try a shot like this again very sharp so I can see which I like more.

  • As far as I'm concerned, it's a keeper. The texture does it.
