I know that pier! Costa Maya.. It's one LONG walk from the ship :) Nice macro of the Bee

    - Just hanging on!

That is one beautiful shot of the yellow jacket! Such color, it fits the fierce little beasty! Looks like warrior paint. I would like to know how they fly, their CG is way off! Looks like their butt would be dragging!

    - So shoot already!!

Wonderful comp in the first, awesome macro on the bee.

  • calepo
Forget walking! Jump in and swim! That water is GORGEOUS! The turqoise blue makes it so inviting. My son's girlfriend is from a small village outside of Mexico City and I'm going to get the 'tour' next year (from her small village and it's outskirts) to Cancun, where my son has a timeshare. Can't wait. The bee is extraordinary. You're right, OG, it does look like war paint. (Must remember to pack something for stings.) =)

    - Enjoy the journey....

Both are great! Love the close up on the bee!

Great comp on the first shot. Very beautiful looking place. IMHO the bee is too soft. It is a good close up but would liked to see it more crisp.

I dunno.... it looks way crispy on my screen with the DOF on the hive....I think it is a great shot! But around here we call em Yellowjackets.... not bees!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellowjacket "Yellowjacket or yellow-jacket is the common name in North America for predatory wasps of the genera Vespula and Dolichovespula. Members of these genera are known simply as "wasps" in other English-speaking countries. Most of these are black-and-yellow;...They are often mistakenly called "bees"[1]. All females are capable of stinging. Yellowjackets are important predators of pest insects.[1]"

    - So shoot already!!
