Ok, I am NOT from the Maine Chamber of Commerce, but....this state stretches with a coastline as long as the one from Maine to Florida and has mountains AND seashores. It has lovely summers and COLD winters. If you love the seasons, you'd love Maine! Here is a lovely view of the Machias River at sunrise on a fall day. Machias RiverWe also have ample wildlife and this guy/gal makes regular stops in my yard to check out the bird feeders. I shot these through my glass slider, so they are not as sharp as they might otherwise be, but I still like them. How about you? Foxy fellow....listening for danger! Foxy Fella New Year's Eve, 2007 And in winter we have lovely, bright days and colorful sunsets as was this one on New Year's Eve day of 2007. We had just had a snowstorm, so the trees were magical! I love this time! Fear in the winter! And if you are so inclined, there is fun to be had in the snow that is plentiful this time of year.

I am going to start to blog about photography in Maine. You'll find my blog at http://storyhourphotography.blogspot.com/, if you're interested. I hope to do some articles about photographing different places in Maine starting with my 'hometown,' Boothbay and Boothbay Harbor!! (Hope it's okay to share this kind of info here.)

I DO hope that some of this whets appetites to come up here with your cameras!! It is a great place to photograph. And I have nothing to gain and some to lose by people 'finding' Maine!

    Lovely shots, Beth! We, or rather I, always wanted to visit Acadia NP and finally got the chance at the beginning of last May. We were in Bar Harbor for four days and got there about a week before the season really started so lots of places were closed but that also meant not a lot of people. The weather didn't cooperate, rainy and overcast 3 of 4 days, but we loved it and would like to go again and take a more leisurely drive up the coast and visit some of the shoppes and little towns along the way.

    Same as Classy, Boat is really nice. Thanks for the invitation, been there. As a matter of fact was there last summer to see a friend just east of Kennybunk Port. Your invitation reminds me of redneck bumper stickers that were prevelant here in Florida when I moved down: "Welcome to Florida, Now go home!" The rednecks have now become a minority.

    I love the boat shot. The sky and the water look like one. Pretty colors. The fear shot is very funny. Great catch on that expression

    Thanks for all the nice comments. I must tell you about the 'Fear' one. That's my adult daughter a few weeks ago sliding down a hillside in our backyard. She was afraid of sliding into our sailboat stored at the base of that hill, I think. It was fine, but I think that's what she was worried about. She's the Princess's (Lorelei's) Mom. Stay tuned....     I love the boat shot - colors are so good. I also like the colored one of the fox. By the way, I have been to Maine several times and love the scenery - especially the lighthouses.

    The boat picture is amazing. I really like the silhouette of the grass and the way the water and the sky blend. Wonderful color also.

    Beth,your river shot is really lovely with the silhouette in the foreground and the dreamy boat and colors.Your color fox is so good,it almost doesn't look real..incredible clarity.fear of Winter is a super candid...her expression says it all!
