Trying out the new lens

These are some of my first shots with my new lens. It is quite a bit heavier than what I am used to...but...I think I am going to really like it! :-)

Well, first three are fun shots, full of action, you used a good combination of shutter speed and f stop, the splashing is stopped dead! I like Junco for composition and lighting. focus is good, takes in the subject almost to the tail, but the face is the focal point, coloring is good. Thanks for the eye feast.

- So shoot already!!

Tremendous!!!Not only are you handling the new lens well, your settings are excellent! I tried replying to your recent PM with no luck, go to B&H photo.com for the UV cap, they have them and delivery is always quick.

nice shot of the junco. how did you get the ground angle. did you set up the camera or get in the snow. i have been trying to get a good shot of the ones at my bird feeder but they are so skidish. and the swan shots are fun to see. good motion shots.

Thanks LeeAnn, I will check out B&H!! Momof3- I was squatting against a tree when I got the Junco shot. I think that I am out around the feeder so much on the weekends that the some of the birds are just kind of used to me (once, I even had a chickadee land on my shoulder!). Some, Cardinals for one, will not come very close when I am out there.

Really like the last two swans, less distraction in the background. You stopped the action just right. I think that lens will soon become a favorite.

I think we are going to enjoy this new lens too! Wonderful stop action with the swan but I love the Junco. Good stuff.
