This ancient tannery in the old town Fes, Morocco is older than 600 years old,
it is almost not possible to find it without the help of a local guide.

I was not sure how I felt when I was there, guilty for what those people go through everyday?
Ashamed that I took these photos?

  • Phew, you should have seen the oratory that these photos elicited from my old mind. I had to delete them. I'll say this instead; your photos should be in Time or Newsweek. And they are really good.

    - So shoot already!!

  • I know what you mean, but I, and I'm sure you have seen worse. Your picture starkly show the labor intensive part or the tannery. But they also show the beauty of colors and places...National Geo is were like I see work. They take single photo submiss...look into it...

These truly make me appreciate how good we have it in this country. Definately worth submitting to National Geographic. Stark reality of how different lives are in other places. Exceptional photographic work.

  • Beautiful shots. I love images that show how people live around the world. To me it looks like piles of cloth being dyed, not skins. Nice work Swat.
