All I've got for you this week is barns and cats.  I didn't photograph anything from the time my last assignment was due up until Christmas and I finally got a chance last week to pick the camera up and I went with some available resources.  However, I did take the time to get creative twice last week, so next week look forward for some new and interesting stuff from me (and I'm not sure if you'll like it, but I'm gonna run it by ya anyway).

Now that that's been said, pictures of my barn!  I know, you're excited.  You shouldn't be.

Couldn't decide which composition I liked or whether I wanted it in b&w or color (really having a hard time with that... maybe I'm just really ready to be back in that darkroom).  So give me your two cents, if you don't mind.

  • The composition of #2 is best, though exposure probably could be a little lighter? And it says a lot. It looks like my office does.

  • You need to send that in to Blue Collar Comedy Hour's redneck yard photo contest! Just a thought. :) Nice shooting.

  • I vote for the first shot in color... yep... I like the low approach to the cabin.. the flash of red in the foreground is a keeper... I don't care for the B & W shots .... so what's new eh...

  • I find the white objects a little distracting because they're so noticeably bright, but I really like the composition in both shots. Second shot in b&w for me.

  • They were extremely difficult for exposure. It was a cloudy, overcast day (and had been raining most of the day) so when I lightened them, it kinda blew out those highlights. The sun peeked out from the clouds long enough to torment me on the drive home. So it figures that when I go in to get my camera the sun hides again. I walked around my yard for 20-30 minutes and these were the only two shots I took. And you saying that dpd makes me really want to. Because now that I look at them in that manner, it's quite amusing to see that the place where the mower is parked/left is where the grass is the tallest. (Our barn has been dillapidated for years and it's just getting worse. And the erratic mowing was my dad's last attempt at mowing the yard before winter... and I think he just wanted to make a walkable path down to the barn).

  • Sounds like the weather is depressing all over. You did good for those conditions, faerie!

  • To me the black and white shots look artsy and the colored look junky. So B&W for me.

I like the angle in the first shot, b&w makes it look less cluttered, imho. :o)

Surprisingly I don't care for these in B&W...for some reason the lawn mower throughs it off. Color shots are great like the first one best cuz of the angle!
