New Lens

Trying a new lens and thought I'd run these by you for comments.

The first two were in the house with tungsten light, no flash. The last two were in the yard.
The lens is a Sigma 105mm f2.8. macro. It's taking some getting used to, but I think I'll like it.

Looks good to me, with 'Bunch' and 'Purple' being the best.

I agree with MrQuackers - were you just using a flat paint wall as a background or did you have a backdrop? What ever you were using I really liked Bunch - it is so clear and it stands out from the background.

For a background, I draped a sheet over a chair but it was too short. If you look closely, you'll see the window blinds in back. I had the f down to 2.8 so it has a real shallow dof.

I've been looking at this lens! Looking forward to see more and hearing how you like it! Like "curve" and "bunch" best, but all are well done!

Excellentay! love them all, you know I love that lens too!! I am begging to covet! Gonna swing by after service, got to see that little lovely. Fly is a little soft. like you say, will take a little getting used to, though you could't tell by the other three! Camera club look out!!

Actually, the fly was sitting on the car hood and I had to use what I had, the little Olympus stylus with NO viewfinder. Thought it did pretty good on this nice, cooperative fly. hehehe

The new lens is working great. Excellent DOF with sharp detail, especially in "Bunch". So often macro shots seem to soft on the subject.

Bunch is the one with beautiful yellows..composition and blur of dof magic.Fly is a little dark and soft.
