So I have problems with the basics of focal point / composition.  They are different and I'm never sure if the photos have either or both.  Here's an example.  The focal point should be the robin or is it the bright shaft of sunlight?  The composition should flow up the diagonal line to the bird and stop at the vertical post.  Does it?   HELP!!
