I got these back in June with the intention of beginning a series surrounding wheel and dash art of the early American and European auto industries. In the beginning it was function over form as evidenced by the first shot, but as time passed it seems that the availability of new materials and whatever the current fad or trend gripped the nations at the time was reflected in both interior and exteriors of the automobiles our parents and grandparents drove. The Art Deco period may have had the single greatest influence on the industry and the cars that rolled off assembly lines in those days were some of the most beautiful ever made.

I know the composition is a repetitive and they’re probably a little to dark for the taste of some, but I like where it’s going and when this blasted summer heat turns into the coolness of autumn I’ll be looking for some more shows.

I don't know if I've ever looked at the steering wheel as a piece of art.  I like your perspective on this, you can see the evolution of things.

A little dark on some, but it focus the attention on what is important.

The only nitpik I had was on the last two: lower left corner, the touch of color there.

I like your perspective.  Steering wheels only.  Keep us up to date on this project.  Very creative.

Great shots, and oh they bring back memories.  I agree keep shooting the wheels like this, such a diff. perspective on the vehicles.

I really like the shots.  Especially the tones in the first and the light in the second.  I would have liked to see variety in the crops and composition since they are different, but I see what you're going for so I won't say that what you're doing isn't right.  And I think it should turn out really nice when you get them all together.

I checked out your profile to see where abouts in you lived and there's an AWESOME car show coming to Lebanon, TN (I know it's not THAT close, but sorta kinda) on Sept. 19.  It's called the Redneck Rumble and it's a car show dedicated to Rat Rods.  It's amazing.  I've been for two out of the three previous years and it's growing exponentially.  It's amazing.  I'm not sure what your schedule is like, but I'd recommend it in a heart beat if you can make it.  I'll be there.  Here's the link for more information about the show:  Redneck Rumble Deluxe IV

Great shooting. The Lincoln and the Chevy are so nice. The shots give you that, "I'm preparing to take the driver's seat feel".

Interesting that the horn button seems to grow over the years - probably more cars, so more traffic, so more road rage, hence the need for a more satisfying horn button. ;-) Nice shots, although I agree that some variety in composition might be nice.

It is nice to see your originality.  I agree with Mr.Q on the technical stuff.

Nice shots. Ilike the Model "T" best being converted to B/W. The levers on the continental are neat. I can't even imagine how they use to shift gears if that was what they are for.
