I got these back in June with the intention of beginning a series surrounding wheel and dash art of the early American and European auto industries. In the beginning it was function over form as evidenced by the first shot, but as time passed it seems that the availability of new materials and whatever the current fad or trend gripped the nations at the time was reflected in both interior and exteriors of the automobiles our parents and grandparents drove. The Art Deco period may have had the single greatest influence on the industry and the cars that rolled off assembly lines in those days were some of the most beautiful ever made.

I know the composition is a repetitive and they’re probably a little to dark for the taste of some, but I like where it’s going and when this blasted summer heat turns into the coolness of autumn I’ll be looking for some more shows.
