The Adriondack Mountains in upstate NY are one on the great well kept secrets in the country. Every year I try to get into the park to backpack or canoe (generally with a group of older Boy Scouts and or Venture Scouts). The attached photos were taken over Memorial Day weekend this year. I was lucky to keep the camera steady due to the black flies, although these photos were taken early in the morning when was a bit too cold for the flies or the mosquitos. I can't remember the name of this pond, but it's along the Northville Placid Trail about midway between Piseco and Wakley Dam which are in the southern part of the Adirondack Park.

What a beautiful and peaceful place. You did well at capturing its beauty. I like the first best. ;)

Very still water for sure!!  Though I like the composition and clarity, I would love to see a subject . . . a small boat floating, and couple lazy ducks (no offense Mr.Q), or something to add a spot of interest.

The tree branches in pond 2 would make a perfect frame for a subject :)

Beautiful pictures.  I like how you used the trees to frame the shot.  On the last one maybe a smidgen crop off the bottom to get rid of those leaves.

No offense taken, cratchet.  BTW, ducks aren't lazy, we just conserve energy.  : )

I love the Adirondacks almost retired there but the winters are brutal. So here we are in the desert.

As you say, the Adirondacks can be brutal in the winter (freezing temperatures, lots of snow, and not many roads open). Of course there are the spring black flies that require you to wear head nets most of the time and (hungry) mosquitoes all summer. Fall is absolutely perfect.
