I like the last set of leaves with the open background. The background in the first shot makes me feel I'm fighting between the leaves and the background, confuses my poor eyes-lol Like the angle of the second shot.

Yep, nice colors in the first shot. The dof is so deep though, that the background does become a little distracting.
The same with the third shot for me...beautiful colors but no real focal point. The light shining on the leaves in the right side of the frame does lead me to that portion of the frame but I'm still looking for something there to grab my interest.
The second shot is my favorite. The leaves stand out against the dark background and create the focal point that I'm talking about. Nice shot.

Despite the disdain others seem to have shown for it, my favorite is the first one. I love the light on the leaves and the transparency of the scene, which I think is enhanced by the depth of focus. I can almost hear the crackle of leaves underfoot. That shot says "fall" to me. And now that I have fallen I'm having to reach up to find the keyboard and there's just no telling what I might typwe, kerwoerjsdfhskolwerjla'dlkjljhlkerhkjej. Whew - at least I kept it clean...

Dub, just push the button on your "I've fallen and can't get up" necklace.
I' going to agree with Dub. I find the flow of the leaves going from top left to the bottom right hand corners to be very enhanced by the heightened light flowing on the leaves, balanced with the added background color. The depth of focus is a great plus.

I like the first one, good focus on the leaves and the the background just out of focus enough so you can see it but it doesn't compete with the subject.
The second is also nice, I like how the leaves a level (well sorta) and the tree is at an angle.
Third, nice shot, but not to appealing to me.
Finally, I like the way the pop-up thumb is cropped; before opeining (square), I think it is I prefer the square format over vertical.

That's why i put it there, Mr Q. I had two verticle shots (the thumb thumb and the popup thumb) and I thought putting one in the square format could be interesting.

I like the first one . . . and I'm not at all bothered by the lake behind, the leaves are bright enough to hold my eye, and I like the contrasting blue background.

Nice colors Les. In the first and last, I think the leaves take over the shot and almost want to see a little more beyond them.

I really like the second “Leaves”, the colors, the angle of the branch and the DOF really make this a great shot … IMHO ... Well Done!!
