A bunch of fun guys and a leaf walked into a bar...

I'm telling you, it's that time of year and I'll have leaves in all of my pictures! Even if they're not originally why I started snapping pictures. For example, while we were hiking this weekend Michael and I came upon three fallen trees that had an enormous cluster of fungi growing on them. I've never seen clusters like this. However, there was also a leaf that had the prettiest shimmer and I couldn't help myself but to include him in the photoshoot.
I intended to make the shots about the fungus... but I think my affection towards leaves won out and they became more about the leaf.
Anyway, same run as the last two days. I'm digging all this honest criticism!
Bonus (all you b&w haters, turn your heads): Leaf

These are awesome...I get such weird looks when I'm on campus trying to get great shots of leaves.

the black and white shot does not do you justice Les... for me far to much soft focus... love the rest of the post...
- Yep.... I can do that....

Yep, the colored leaf wins but the shrooms are also very nice.
See what I mean, though? You are so easily distracted. I picture Michael slipping the ring on your finger with the lake in the background and the preacher saying, "Do you, Leslie, take this--"
"Wait! Is that a leaf? Hang on, I'll be back in a minute! Don't go anywhere." ;-)

Lmao. I
knowthink Michael would just leave me at the altar if I did that to him. I probably won't go that far, but I make no guarantees that I won't be distracted slightly by being outside :-D- Film-Junkie 4 Life!

Every time I see lots of leaves or lots of them falling I think of you! lol. nice set, I like the color and agree with SG it looks out of focus on the b&w. Neat find on the shrooms, too. ;o)

this is a great set and I love it except for the B&W and yes I am a fan of B&W but for this shot it does not work for me.

If you haven't seen 'shrooms in clusters like that, you haven't been to this area of the country. The rain and mild climate are a haven for moss and fungus of every type - along with slugs the size of squirrels!! Seriously!
I like shimmer, but I have a feeling the photo didn't translate as beautifully as it appeared in person. Some things just don't. Still good photos tho'.

Nice set of fungi, the first one is my favorite.
Speaking of the first one, that close one is so sad he's no longer a fun guy.

It's not that the black and white is problem with leaf ... Like Kerry said it's just the narrow focus. I think if the focus ...DOF was wider then the eye would just wonder over to the lower right hand corner, just to be let down to start wondering again to the real focus point. Just a thought....someone should market photographers knee pads

LMAO Mr.Q! That's hilarious, I didn't even notice he was frowning. Poor guy must have been left out of all the fun games. He probably resents the leaf.
