I had the opportunity to travel with a colleague back during the first week of October to the Northeast. We pretty much drove all over New Hampshire and Vermont taking photos. Here a couple of my favorites, from at least what I have processed so far.

 Fall colors 1

 Fall colors 2

 Fall colors 3

The red leaf was shot with a 60mm Nikkor Macro. I only used it once and in hindsight should have played around with it more on the trip.

Indeed you should have played more!  I've been eyeing that lens for a few years now.

I love the color in all these, but especially in 1 & 2.  Wonderful saturation in those two, not to mention great compositions.

All great but 1 is exceptional.

Shutter speed is perfect for the water. (would you mind devulging the speed? :)

May have pulled back a bit to pick up more of the foreground.

    A beautiful capture!

SG the stream pictures were taken in the White Mountain National Forest.  Depending on which way you head North will determine whether you come in from the Town of Lincoln side or the Conway side. There is a road (Hwy 112) that connects the two towns and is about a 20 mile drive. The stream pictures that I posted were closer to the Conway side and a couple miles past one of the covered bridges. There are lots of photo ops including water falls. Hwy 93 is close to Lincoln and slightly North is Franconia Notch (where the old man in the Mtn. was). Another great place to take pictures. North of Franconia Notch is Hwy 302 that brings you back East.

Another great run was through a state park in Vermont North and west of Woodstock on Hwy 100.  From the white mtn. are it was west on hwy 302 to hwy 100. We took the drive the last day and could have easily spent more time there as well.

The friend that I was traveling with had some great maps that highlighted the scenic byways. I just picked up a Garmin and found on their website that they offer a similar feature.

Mackinaw: The settings were f11 at 05 seconds. I am pretty sure that I used a split ND or two.  I might have even used it upside down to keep the water from being blown out while getting more exposure for the foliage. Definitely had the circular polarizer on as well.

Great pictures.  Must have been about a month ago or more when you came through.  You were here, I was in Queens, NY for the whole fall season.  By the time I got back, it was over.  Thanks for showing me what it looked like.

Gorgeous fall shots, great colors and love the way the reds pop in the first one along with the smoothness of the water.  My next favorite is the last one, beautiful color,  comp and details!  Great set.  :o)

Lovely colors and the exposure is fantastic in the first shot...not only for the water but it makes the colors pop even more.
