I spent the last few days in Rockport TX with Bugaboo.  It was great to meet her and we had a fantastic time shooting birds. We had a lot of fog and drizzle but there was sun in Port Aransas thank goodness.  But before editing my 1200 shots, there was two birds we saw that neither one of us could identify and was wondering if anyone could help us out.

Any help would be appreciated and thanks for looking

AND a BIG thanks to Bugaboo-----what a fantastic tour guide-she knows TX better than I do.

I don't know what species, but they seem to be young chicks of some type.

I think SG has it right, but then Shades probably does too, just the hard way.  lol.  So glad you got to get together and take photos!  She is fun and very knowledgable.  Can't wait to see more photos!  :o)

If those are the disguises you use to hide while you shoot birds, I'm surprised you got 1000 photos . . . don't think those would fool any self-respecting bird!

Better get Rocky involved, he is the only one I know who can identify such weird species.

Everytime I look at this shot, it reminds me of that movie with Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman "Eyes Wide Shut".

It's a flock of long-billed photo hawks....rarely seen on film, generally found behind the camera.

Could that be a kookaburra and a dodo bird?

I think Pat nailed it. Luckily, the folks with the nets and white jackets have been dispatched. ;-)

very sorry that I missed you guys, the weather has put us soooo far behind on the Motiva project that I can't see daylight. However from the looks of Bugaboo I would have had a severe case of "lens envy" anyway...d

    - out.....there
