Just got the email challenge.  It's hard to believe 35,000+ pictures and three years have gone by since my last post - - so, hello again to anyone who remembers me.

My entry  Toxomerus occidentalis making more Toxomerus occidentalis was taken on June 9, 2009, on one of my daily Bugtography walks.

Toxomerus occidentalis is a small fly in the family Syrphidae.  Syrphid flies are also often called Hover Flies.  Most are beneficial pollinators, but not all Syrphid species have these cute, goofy little faces.

Thanks to all for the kind words and votes.  I expect to be back to regular posting as soon as I finish IDing the remainder of my bug backlog and uploading the associated entomological data.

Up close, bugs are among the most beautiful things on earth.  I hope you don't get tired of seeing their pretty little faces and sometimes quirky behavior.
