Cambodia Trip - Part 8 - Tone Le Sap Lake Floating Village
Ton Le Sap Lake is in northern Cambodia in the area of Siam Reap. The lake is quite large (the largest in South East Asia covering 2,700 sq kms) and is a major river and lake system for Cambodia. The lake is unusual in the fact that it's flow changes direction twice a year. As such, the lake grows and shrinks markedly depending on the season. The people who live on the flotaing village spend almost al of their lives onboard their boats. I was fascinated as we made our way through their water village, watching as the locals went about their daily lives. We visited an area where they raise crocodiles in pens for export to other Asian countries for their skins. They threw is some little fish which sure brought the crocs to life.
