MrQ - I like the silhouette, but I think I would have preferred that both the tree in the foreground and the stuff in the background be in focus, requiring a very small aperture, which might not allow enough light at this time of day, so also requiring a tripod in all liklihood.
I learned many years ago that when shooting sunsets/sunrises to start at f-16 at 1/60 (ASA 100-160) and then bracket on both sides a couple stops. You could usually hand hold at 1/60th especially nowdays with IS. Of course with todays softwear where you can lighten/darken or subtract/add contrast, makes it a lot easier.
