pictures of the sunset last night taken from our yard, was taken with a little point and shoot. DSLR was packed away
Great captures with any camera but picked up some noise w/point and shoot. Could be removed With Topaz Denoise.

Mack, the little P&S did have noise in the shots, I saw it, but wanted to post anyway because I like the shots a lot, does topaz denoise really work? Will have to think about getting it.

I use it a lot fish. Sometimes the processing brings out grain/noise and Denoise really helps. You can use different degrees. Get the 30 day trial and give a shot. Topaz had a sale the other day 50% off. No sure if it is still on. I had the trial version of Detail which had expired and I bought it at 50% off. I think PS does have a Denoise filter although it doesn't work as well as Topaz. Yes, they are nice shots even with the small amount of noise in them.
BTW - look for noise in the PS filters. Then Denoise.
fish - I agree with Mac on the noise, but I also like the colors a lot. Your DSLR was packed away? Going on a trip?
Regardless of the softness I still think the colors are stunning. You have put the idea in my head to post my sunset photos.

Dub, no trip just put away in a safe place till I need it.
Your sunset looks like what I see at our place--too many trees to be able to get a gorgeous shot of the sky, do like the colors in yours--like the sky could be on fire....
