I just completed an individualized photography course from PSA (Photographic Society of America).  It took 6 months and involved a whole array of projects with comments from a professional photographer/instructor.  The textbook was "Complete Guide to Photography" by John Hedgecoe.  The images posted today show what I submitted for the last set of assignments and what the instructor sent back (both an adjusted image and comments).  Curious to know if you agree with him and what other adjustments you might suggest.  This course has been very helpful.

Yarn - altered is better, a little brighter, can see the details better

Water - iffy on this one, removing the glare is good, but should have been done to the upper faucet too.  The glare really doesn't bother me.

Kitty - just a re-crop and darkening, no real improvement.

Tigger -I like the lighting addition, but think the space above the head should be equal to what is below the head.

The first and last image I can see a change for the better but the middle two I cannot see much change.

    All are very nice images!

Yarn:  I like the edited version better...the first looked a little dull.

Faucet:  Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference, until I read the description!  The glare didn't really boher me, and looking at the edit, I can tell it was removed....so I like yours better!

Kitty:  Not a whole lot different...I do like it better without the maroon though.

Tiger:  I like the gold reflector filter he used, but I like your crop a lot better.

    All great pics!

Yarn--the edited version does look better--better detail and brighter

agree with Mac on 2 &3--not much difference at all.....and what tete said about the tiger---I like seeing more of the tiger and the gold lights from the edited version...

sd - ah hah! This explains what I have noticed in your work over the past couple of months--a large leap in technical quality and composition. I like the edit on the yarn shot. It has much better details. Taking out the glare on the faucet is fine, but should have been done above, too. Otherwise, it looks wrong and altered. I like the tighter crop of the kitten. I was unable to get the last one to come up, but I'll try again.

Thanks Dub - It was more difficult than I anticipated but worth it.  They even sent me a lovely certificate to show I got through it.

    - Aging is good ...
