New Story Editor
Hello everybody.
I'm pleased to announce an upgrade to the story editor. You should be able to do the same things you were able to before. I've yet to find a good icon to use for either the popup image button and the slideshow button. Right now they are the same icon, which is rather confusing. The left button is the popup, the right is the slideshow (if you are a subscriber). Even if you click the wrong button, it will not matter because you can just switch tabs.
If you are a graphic designer and want to donate a couple of 22x22px gifs, I've be very grateful.
Let me know if any of you have questions or encounter any problems!

Takes a long time for the page to load, off hand I'd say it tying to load something from the dev site.

The image pop-up is working, but it was very slow the first time I ran it: a minute or more before it filled up. Now it's working quickly.

This post is with Safari on Mac. One weird note: On safari, the editor is running in a Times-style font. In the other browsers the editor appears to be running a Helvetica-style font. Very minor point.
The new page for showing your stories and images is very nice.

BTW - the editor works much better with Mac now, but weird thing: the bold, italic, underline and strikethru aren't appearing when I write the post with Safari. No idea why. Still a minor point though, since I use FF for most things.

I had the same trouble as above in my latest story but I was able to go back and edit the story after it was published, delete the text that was included in the popup and then type it again as text below the image popups.

Just fixed the "getting back to text after inserting a picture" bug. It should now pad the beginning and end with a space.

As for slow loading, which pages load slowly? I'm using a service provided by both google & yahoo were they are hosting some of the javascript libraries I use. In theory, it should be faster, but honestly it could make things slower as well. If it is everything on the site, I might be loading some junk I do not need. I dont think it is trying to load off my dev site because 1) My internet would be slow at home and 2) it wasn't up last night so everything would be broken. But it has happened before :-)

As for Safari... heh. Safari seems to be a "special case" in almost all of the javascript libraries I use. There is a whole safari plugin that hacks around some... issues... that browser has with rich text editing. Let me add the plugin (it should only load for safari) and lets see if that fixes your issues.

no wonder it was so damn slow. I was loading the development version of the text editor. The dev version isn't compressed for speedy loading and instead of a single 20kb file, it is like twenty 10kb files. Sorry :-)

btw... on your dashboard, click a checkbox next to a story. hold down on your shift key. click on another checkbox somewhere below. Now in the "Tag actions" box, select a tag... it will tag all of the stories you just selected!

hello world. Hey surfer, by "only load sometimes" are you talking about the pictures in the list when you go add a new popup? Does it just sit and wait with a "loading images..." thing?

At this very minute, every button and editor feature seems to be working correctly. I was missing the insert popup button for a little bit but it's back and the images load in about 2.5 seconds.

arg! safari! When you use Safari and underline/bold/
strikesomething, TinyMCE (the text editor) will post a bunch of spans with their style attribute set to things like text-decoration:underline;. My HTML filter gets pissed about that, as I do not allow spans in the HTML (at least, I should not be allowing spans).- The Beachmaster

I have a full head of hair. Sorry for the five minute downtime. The proxy server was caching internal server errors (hence the annoying "internal server error" of doom page)

Hope you find my note buried here Cory. I am unable to send an email to anyone on the site including your self. If I try to "message this user" I get a blank screen and a message that says error on page. I am able to receive email, but not send or reply to emial. Pat has asked me to sponsor the next challange and I would like to do it, but I cannot get a reply back to her. - Thanks.
