It's All About ME...not really!

These are some pics I took the other morning after I dropped Barb off at work.  I went across the street from there to a city park and took a couple pics of the fountain and the mighty Wabash river. It was still kinda dark.
Took some pics also on the way home of some rusty metal and done them in B/W.
Since we've had a lot of self-disclosure lately, I've included a pic of myself from 1971 when I was stationed at Shemya AFB in the Aleutian Islands it was taken by my roommate (those are his pics on the wall). He's the one that got me started in photography(blame him). The second of me is about a year ago, I think,... It's me and colossus at my drawing table... that's the first photo of mine I ever framed that wasn't of the kids. One since 1971... that shows the respect I have for my photography.8o)

Popup LinkFountain? This used to have water curtain down each leg.
Popup LinkOn the Banks of the Wabash...not so far away.

Thought these looked better B/W.

Don't worry these aren't big.
Popup LinkLean, Mean, Fighting Machine!
Popup LinkNot so Lean, Not so Mean, I'm a Lover not a Fighter! My hair appears gray because I accidentally shot this with a gray filter.

As always, your comments and criticism are expected, if not welcome. 8o) The River shot I intentionally placed close to center cause I wanted it to appear more tranquil and serene the way it felt that morning.  So, other than that let'er rip!

Gray filter....I believe you...really I do...most pics taken of me are taken with a wide angle lens. Hinge post is my favorite, simply for the texture. And why doesn't the fountain work anymore?

  • Johnny Fubar
I like the Wabash shot a lot. The symmetry is what that one is all about for me... the hinge is very good too... I enjoy dilapidation!

I'm glad you had that roommate....hingepost is my fav....you were a pretty handsome devil weren't you....still are!

  • jennesaisquoi
Tranquil and serene are exactly what I get from the river shot. Perfect on this hectic day at work. Thank you.

    - Just a lazy daisy...

JJ, I don't know why they took down the waterlines. They always shut if off in winter. Maybe the maintenance was too costly? Bojolee, Thanks, but I've never considered myself handsome or even good-looking... I'm just average.

Well, consider yourself handsome now!! I think you have aged very well and look better than you did as a youngin'! And, the gray filter... hee hee.

From that angle, the Fountain looks like a giant bug heading for the sunrise. Cool. I liked serenity of the river but would like to see just a hint more pink in the sky where it is starting to show.

"pink"???? Cherish did you hijack my post? I like the hinge in bw. Nothing wrong with gray filters. Make you look more distinquished. Great disguise. You are a cutie. ; )

I like the Wabash shot too & I have to go with Travlin on that one, you look better now.

  • Beholden
Hubba hubba!! I like the NOT so lean an mean gray haired beast myself :oP Dang it if Cherish didn't beat me in the flirtation department. Haroumph--are you after my STALKER position???? Loweho.....i loved the wabash and hinge post myself... :oP

    - ummmm

  • RobinG
Love the black & whites, they are great!!! I like you as you are now, you are better than average :o)

  • Pyro43
I like the "soft" feel and symmetry of the Wabash shot. The texture of the hinge shot is very nice. Good shootin', loweho. BTW...Gray is beautiful!

    - Mmmmmm... Multiplicative

  • Jump1ok
Both b/w shots are nice. I enjoy seeing texture in b/w and the subject matter in these two shots really make me want to reach out and touch it.. Now to let it rip.....mmmmaarghh. can you smell that 8o)

Good shots, like Wabash a lot. Gray filter, yeah right, I look bald because I shoot with a bald filter:-)

All nice, enjoyed hinge for the texture and the many shapes. River was very calming. My mirrors have been set at gray since I was 30.

  • Birdie
Nothing bad about gray! Something we all almost have to look forward to, I think I'm going to be white from the looks of what's happening here and there! Love the softness of the river. The hinge is real good!

  • Porkchop
Love Hinge Post. Excellent texture. Good composition. I can't find a thing wrong with it. Too bad you didn't have more light for the Fountain. The background is good but the structure seems to fade away.

    - Pigs CAN fly!

  • Wildman
You've aged well,!!!! you look wilder than before!

  • photogbob
    Nice job on Hinge Post!

    - One Image at A time!

  • muddy
Nice shots I like the b/w.

  • Penny
"Hinge Post" is my pick! What a great shot. You can always say what my husband says if I find a gray hair (on him that is). "That's not gray! It's really blonde". Now if they are on me then he says they are gray. I love hair color and high lights!!

  • TURBO
Well done, Don. I really enjoyed your photos, and the B&W's are quite good. I love how you look just like your avatar. Spooky...LOL

    - Say what ?

  • loweho
Well, Turbo I wondered how long it would be before someone remarked on the resemblance and who that someone might be... Surprised at how long it took but not who!!!! Luckily, I'm too nice to comment on the size of the "thing a rooster pecks with" in your avatar! 8o) Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Old door hinges look marvelous in black and white. The texture of the door stands out and yet blends seamlessly with the hard iron hinge. I would hang this photo in my home.

  • austinspace
wonderful post--such a great variety! So...is that Barb in the photos on the wall?

    - here and there

  • loweho
No that was my roommate's wife... he hung semi-nude and nude pics of her on the wall. I doubt if she knew!
