I don't often have a willing victim... errr ummm... model, yeah MODEL, to photograph, so I shoot 'em when I can get 'em.

I wanted to try using absolutely Popup Linknothing but candlelight for lighting...

...what can I say, I like to Popup Linkplay with fire...

Popup LinkCigarettes and red red lips, such a lovely combo...

But sometimes, it's all just Popup Linksmoke & mirrors...

The reflected, flickering flames did some strange & interesting things Popup Linkin the darkness...

And a cigarette holder and an armful of roses in the shadows make me think of a sort of Popup Linksinister elegance...

    Love the thumb!

    - blow.....hard

The photos are good, but I hate to see even theatrical use of cigarettes as a prop. Hope that beautiful young woman isn't in time burdened with anguish and regret.

Rockadee, smalltown05... TY guys, I appreciate it... tbell, this girl was a friend of a friend who wanted to pose for me one day, she was a smoker and was smoking anyway and I like to capture it as I see it. I don't smoke personally but to each their own. Thanks for the word about my photos.

    Great set love the lighting

    Nice set

Interesting idea and I like the shots but as with any photographer I would have done a few things different. I think the hair goodies and all the rings are distracting. I hate being able to see a bra. Take it off, being as all you see is her back anyway, or wear a solid top.

    - Oh Bull!

Nice series. Candlelight, for me, always produces a deep orange tint - did you tone-down the "warmth" at all? Anyway, the DoF was great and the poses were very creative and interesting.

    Play with fire is great!

beautiful and well done... agree the hair ornaments and rings detract, but given how nice they all are..its all relative.

Like "play with fire" best. Nice shootin'

Thanks all.. I appreciate your feedback, as always! :) And thanks for the ideas, ClassyShots... this was not a planned shoot, as I said this was a friend of a friend who was just happened to be around for a short while that evening (she was already dressed that way, about to go out somewhere if I recall) and she agreed to pose for a few quick shots so I didn't really 'style' this or anything, it was just a spur of the moment thing. Since I never have any actual models to shoot I took the opportunity that was presented. Personally, I would love to be able to control an entire shoot- wardrobe and everything- but as I can't afford to pay a model, I have to make do. Sigh. I would have done some things differently had I had the chance, but oh well. I only had about 5 minutes to shoot this girl, heh. Thank you, knepomuk... I didn't get so much of an orange tint as I did toooo much darkness, which I lightened up a tinytiny bit in PS in some just so more details would be visible (except for a few shots, like in darkness and play with fire, those I left as-is cause I kinda liked the spookiness of the darkness in those) javsmom... I hear ya on the model thing... if I had a willing friend I would be pressing them into modeling service constantly, heheheh. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who will model for me without the pay, which, as a broke person, I cannot afford, Doh. Thanks for the kind words :)

too bad we don't live closer heather, we could shoot eachother! i think we both like to be behind and in front of the camera:) camera actors...

In the Darkness, is my favorite, Shady! It reminds me of a horror movie, not one in particular, just the general mood and lighting. Very nice set!

Tell her you will buy her dinner and give her a cd of the images if she will come back and give you some time ;-)

Neat set! Nothing but candlelight & in the darkness are wonderful. How fun, no way can I get people shots. Would like to try sometime tho!

  • bugaboo
    These are really wonderful!

Good experiment. "play with fire" is my fave. They all have a mysterious feel.

    - Mmmmmm... Multiplicative

I am glad you had a chance to play and hope you keep it up. These have a nice feel to them and it looks like the big guns here have given you some ideas. I think classy had the right idea....bribe her next time so you can have more control over the details.

javs... oh, totally... we would have a blast eh? Damned long distances...! --shakes fist at sky-- And loweho... ooooh, THANK YOU. I love things spooky above all, so you just paid me a gi-normous compliment, woot! Thanks again for all the feedback, guys... I really appreciate it. I actually shot these a few years ago(!), back when I lived in New Jersey... and I am back in Texas now. So, unfortunately, no chance of enticing her back for more photos, doh. I have been on the lookout for willing models around here since I moved back but so far no takers (well, none that will work for anything less than a big paycheck, oi) And I am broke as a joke, right now, heh. So I guess I'll have to just keep looking.
