Bee crop...

One more bee shot for you. This is an a crop out of the full size image.. Bee Crop

On this wave shot... do you think there is too much wave in it? Is the size perspective messed up because of it? Another Wave

No need to vote on these. I'm looking for input more than anything else but.... I want it on the size and not the tonal range. We've been down that road.

WOWSER I was waiting to hear that wave crash!! You did a fantastic job catching the power of it!!! Fantastic job!! IMHO I am wishing the focus was more on the bees head then just the wings.

The wave is fantastic! Love the contrast and the textures. And I'll vote if I want to, damn it! ;)

It would be much easer to figure DOF in the bee shots if the little suckers would quit moving around. Yes you can vote if you want to ;-)

    - Oh Bull!

  • Penny
You can't get it to pose for you like the Annas do? LOL ;0)

Nope Penny. For some reason the bees just don't listen. Speaking of the Anna's, I acquired another young female. I'm guessing a feeder near me went bad or ran dry. She has been hanging around here with the other five I've had all winter. It's funny to watch her because of the different feeders I have. She hasn't figured out what part to get the food from on one of them yet.

    - Oh Bull!

My eyes must be going because the bee looks sharp to me. Now I'm worried. The wave is a fantastic thing even in black and white.

    - So shoot already!!

  • andreaeagle
Great Bee...don't worry TOG it looked sharp to me too. Wave has kinetic energy you get swept up in it!

    - come over for lunch

Both shots were awesome, Mike, that being said... to answer you're question, at first I thought the wave and the rocks are too equal in weight and would benefit by losing some rocks on the right or bottom BUT (I like big butts and I cannot lie) when I hand cropped it on screen I liked the original better so maybe your first instinct was right. That was a lotta help wasn't it? p.s. I like driving down old roads so I'll add that the tonal range of the b&w looked great on my monitor! 8o)

Thanks. Actually for print use to standard sizes there will have to be some cropping done but I think even at that cropping both sides equal is best or maybe leaning a little right and taking more of the rock than the wave.

    - Oh Bull!

Whoa! What a wave! Awesome shot. Love it. Size does matter.

That, my friend, is a WAVE. I love the size of it, the power can be felt in the image as it is slamming the rocks. And, the choice of BW is perfect.
