Actually the picture is of a green gecko. Many reside in my yard and can be seen regularly during the day. They come out without fear of people as long as you don't try to catch them. They do change color according their immediate environment. Colors range from light and dark browns to bright greens. They are interesting to watch and keep the bug population in check. The males have a flap called a dewlap that emerges during territorial conflicts and attempts at female attraction. I had just purchased my new camera when I took these photos so I wouldn't brag about them. Just another story. Enjoy

Good job with your first attempts.  The big thing with up-close photography is focus.  And with animals (and people) always focus on the eyes.  That being said, I really like 'male gecko.'  You framed it well and the colors are beautiful and DOF is nice. 'Gecko Resting' comes in a close second. But like I said before, focus on the eyes.

I agree with everything EF said.  I liked the shots in the same order she did too.  The colors in male gecko really made the image.  So, with all these geckos hanging around your yard, are you saving any money on your car insurance?
