This is another experiment I carried out in photo repair using Photoshop.

One of my first experiments in digital photo repair was listed in my previous post here. After the repair of my Aunt's photo (see http://www.photographica.org/story/2006/8/28/154111/962), I had really started enjoying this activity. One of my other uncles, showed me a Popup Linkdamaged photograph of his father with his siblings. This photograph was around 60-70 years old and was torn in places. In addition it had pencil marks and scratches all over it. Some peices of it were missing as well. I was ofcourse interested as it posed a bigger challenge. So I discussed with my uncle what we can do. One of gentleman in the photo had so many marks on the jacket that it was almost impossible to repair as it is. So I took my uncle permission to try whatever I can to see if I can make this photo a bit more presentable.

Here is the Popup Linkfinal result . As you will notice, I had to replace:

  1. the jacket of the person second from the right,
  2. repair the kid's face, arm and clothes.
  3. In addition I replaced the background as it seemed to take the attention away from the group because of the dark areas between the columns.
This was a fun experiment and took me around 4-5 hours in all. And ofcouse my uncle was very happy as well.
