  • Welcome! What a great first start! I love the first one. That should go on a wall! Beautiful colors in second.

  • Welcome indeed.  The color in the first one is beautiful and vibrant and I love the road as a leading line.  The second has beautiful colors but lacks interest, imo.

    Hi there, welcome! ^^

The first one is better, I agree with enigmaticfaerie that the second one lacks a point of interest, though it is colourful.

Welcome aboard. Lovely beginnings! Among my favorites things are pretty roads as in your first shot. I'm always wondering what lies ahead which makes the shot work for me.

I love the colors in the second shot - very vibrant.

I'm not trying to put words in EMF's (enigmaticfaerie) mouth, but I think what she meant by "lacks interest" was that perhaps a structure of some type in the second shot would have been an interesting addition to the beautiful colors. (Forgive me, EMF, if I'm wrong.)

  • Yes.  And another way of saying it is the picture of colored leaves is just that:  A picture of colored leaves.  It needs something else in the image or done to the image (maybe if you found the right pattern in the different tree colors) it would add interest to the image.

  • First shot is really lovely--great color, a line to lead your eye into the image and a point at which to rest.  And I agree that the second shot needs a focal point--a place for your eye to go.  Welcome and great start!

Thanks for the input & the welcome. I understand about the point of interest (or lack there of) in the 2nd picture, note taken. I suppose in my quest to capture the essence of autumn I neglected the basics.

  • Gotta disagree with the advice on the second shot - I really like the array of colors for just what they are - almost like abstract art - just splashes of vibrance.  Anyway, welcome, and please post more . . . .remember, all the helpful hints you get are individual opinions - use what you want, and then go with your own eye!!

I am with the other about the first shot.  I like the second too.  It is not easy to capture the colors the way you did.  As a show of the color it is really good.  Also welcome!!

  • Both lovely shots!  I agree w/Cratchet about the second shot - I think it's beautiful just the way it is.
