A view of Half Dome in the morning plus my first attempt at HDR.

Love the color in the sky and mountain, set off by the trees. I might have tried to remove the road and fence/shrub from the foreground though. . . it draws my eye away from the beauty of the scene (being a purist at heart, I would clone out the cars too - I like nature shots "undisturbed" by man!). Some irony in that - take the natural, and un-naturally remove the stuff that doesn't "belong"?!

I have to disagree I like the fence and the road in the shot gives you perspective as do the vehicles. That being said I too would loose the vehicles the rest of the shot is wonderful as in, in my opinion.

Thanks all for the great comments for the newbie...
... now that you all mentioned it I agree with you about the vehicles. The reality is that at times it was hard to get any shot without people or cars.

I love the compositon of this shot. The fence the road all of it. The shot draws your eyes in to the top of the mountain. It really shows the dimension. This shot really gives the feeling of standing right there and taking in the massive size and beauty of the mountain. Great Job!

You are so right about being able to get a picture sometime w/o cars and or people...
What caught my eye was the size of the mtn (at your angle) and what appears to be color from the sun just to the left of the dome.
