Canola This pic I took whilst we driving 100 km/hr on a bumpy road headed for a camping weekend in the mountains of the Swartland, Western Cape, South Africa. The yellow field is a Canola Field in full bloom with the build up to evening showers in the distance. I thought it came out okay, considering the potholes and speed. What do you think?

  • Considering the potholes and speed, it turned out fair.  If you had stopped and gotten under the power line, it would have been better.  Straightening the horizon would be another improvement.

  • I actually think in this case, the power lines are an enhancement to the picture.  Normally they don't belong in a photo and I've always wondered why our beautiful earth is ruined by so many of them.

  • I  think this one of those rare times when power lines aren't a distraction.  I didn't notice that the horizon needed to be straightened until I read MrQ's critique.  I like the shot. The colors are wonderful.

  • I thought that the horizon is what it is - because there's no definite line, it may be the lay of the land.  Anyway, I like it too, power lines and all - I wish it could be a tad sharper, but speed and potholes will do that!!

If I tried that it'd just be a blurry streak. :D Nice work.

I think I'd have to go back, get out of the car and recompose the shot.  The power lines don't bother me; I just want to see a little more of the road to lead the eye out of the shot.
