I think maybe that the problem...if there is one.....is that with a silhouette that has a lot of small details, like branches, and lets not forget the low light. If you are using a slower lens...like 4.5 or greater, you will get that kind of foreground blur when your trying to bring out the deep color a darker sky. If you let the lens stay open long enough to have both of these (foreground and background) in focus...it will allow to much light and you won't get the colors like you did.
Pretty sky Msjudi.

I'm a stickler for sharp focus so that spoils it for me but the sky does look nice. ^^ If you want to do longer exposures methinks it's worth getting a tripod... I probably will, I can barely shoot at 1/60 without blurring. :D
thank you for all the great advice.. i am using my old camera and not that happy myself with results .. until my other camera is back from being repaired i have made do with this canon power shot camera ...
Well MsJudi, you have some good suggestion which is very helpful (hope I can remember the next time I try to get a shot like this)..the sky has great color
Beautiful sky Judi. The trees seems out of focus. Might be my cataracks....
- Hmm...Blonde or Brunette?

No, it's not the cataracts -the seem out of focus to me too. Unless I have cataracts too! Sky is beautiful though.

The color in the sky is pretty but the lack of focus really takes away from the shot. The focus is way too soft.

I love the color, I agree with Penny, the softness did take away from the spectacular shot. IT could have been more crisp, as fall usually is.

A little soft, yes, but the beauty of the sky outways it!
