Fires this past week have been roaring through our State, and I expect one of our Photographica members (DSW) has been fighting one of the bad ones in the Santa Barbara area. Over 100 large homes reported lost there.
Here in Huntington Beach we are fortunate to be some 15 miles or so from the nearest fires, with the only inconvenience smoky skies and ashes blown in by the wind. These shots taken November 15 provide some perspective.
Looking east toward Yorba Linda and Anaheim Hills from roof of parking structure at Beach and Warner - SK1
From same site looking toward ocean, sun filtered by smoke layer - SK2
Looking east from Bolsa Chica wetlands on Pacific Coast Hwy - SK3
On walkway above beach, looking toward Catalina Island - SK4
Closer view from same site, filtered sunlight turns ocean red - SK5
From beach below my shot, beach visitors ignore the strange light of this day - SK6
Wind down today, we can hope the fires will soon be contained.

SK5 is an amazingly beautiful shot, with the red pervading it. Always hate to see the fire season arrive but am glad I'm far away from it!

Amazing. Fifteen miles seems to close for comfort. Take care. Hope DSW is OK.

The fires are something. I was in San Diego last year for the fires that they had. I don't miss them.
