So after showing my other Man Ray tribute to one of my teachers, he suggested doing another well known Man Ray shot called "Glass Tears."  So here's my Leaf Tears !

I like the ideas. I cant say that I know of his work, but these poses look familiar.

    Well done.

  • While the color is nice and the tribute is right on, I would have done them in B&W or a silver gel for best effect as Man Ray would have done.

  • I agree with Shades that using B&W would be a closer imitation.  It would also cut down on the distraction of the colors and let just the tones and shapes stand out.  I think it would also be improved if the leaves were actually lying on her face instead of appearing to be stuck on.  The tonal range is lovely and there are a lot of really pleasant elements.

  • Regardless of the original or how close the imitation, I think it stands on its own, in color, as beautifully artistic. I especially like the almost monochromatic tones of skin, lips and leaves.  Nicely done.

  • They're not stuck on.  They dried out a bit from the time I found them and did the shoot and so they got a lot flatter.  We literally placed them on her and shot.  I wanted to do it in color so it would definitely be different.  It's a tribute only because it's my own representation of the images.  But I did change one to b&w cause i do whats the peoples want :-)

  • I do like the B&W because it instantly lets me think of Man Ray.  The color would have taken me awhile.  But it's your vision--remember that.

I really like the b&w, which is strange, I usually like color better.  Nice job.  :o)

Wonderful pics. Not my cup of tea but one can't deny the artistry from the original and variations on the theme. Nicely done.

I like the composition....but the face goodies (percings) are a big distraction for me.

  • as a "tribute" to glass tears, your use of color is more than fine IMO....and for years I thought Man Ray was just a fetish bar in Boston anyway...who knew?

You've done a fine job with this...the only suggestion I have is to remove the rectangular reflection in her eyes! (I have No idea how to do this, but I Know you do)!

  • I thought about, and I have toned it down, but I wasn't sure about getting rid of it all together.  It's the soft box reflected in her eye.  I'll consider it before printing.

  • I like the shot both ways EF, but I the color is better to me. (Big surprise there, huh!)  I do agree with  Chef that the piercings distract from the leaves though.  Overall a nice tribute though.
