This past Sunday Michael and I decided to explore the area where his house is. We had time to kill and nothing to do around the house so we hopped in the car for a little drive. I quickly grabbed my camera just in case, even though Michael warned that he might not stop for just anything. It was a good thing I brought it anyway because on our drive we found the Clarkson Covered Bridge. It's a beautiful area. We'd seen signs from the main highway and knew it was in the area but we're so happy we found it. It has beautiful picnic areas and waterfalls here and there. Definitely a place to revisit. I didn't get very many pictures, but I did get a few of the bridge.
And it's fall, so who can resist a shot of the leaves?
Thanks for looking and have a great weekend everyone!

What a great set EF! I think you covered every rule of photography in these shots; leading lines, fill the frame, rule of thirds...have you taken classes? :)
Now that you've found this gem, I assume you'll be going back again?

Great shots, but I really like leaves. Excellent composition and colour. :)

Of course bruce! I really hope to take bailey there... maybe when it starts to warm up again though. I love taking pictures of that child! And with it being so well taken care of, I plan to have some picnics when it warms up as well.
And thanks to both of you for the comments :-D
Psst.... Bruce! I have been taking classes... but let's keep that our little secret ;-)

There is a Grist Mill in the same area. Did you get pictures of it too?

Yes, but I didn't like the way they came out. The lighting wasn't optimal for the kind of shot I wanted with it so I didn't upload it. It's on my list to get a good picture of when I go back.
BTW, how did you know it had a mill with it?

I love the perspective on all of them esp. the covered bridge. It would look awesome covered in snow.

Lol angie.... I only wish I could get a shot of it covered in snow! North Alabama isn't known for lots of snow, but we typically get a small dusting in late february.

Love the thumb shot, very covered-bridge-ish.
I thought leaves could have used a tighter crop, of just the leaf; but I will say that it now looks like th light is shining on it.

Your b/w bridge is outstanding! I recently shot a bride and groom in one...Your's has fantastic DOF! The leaf is perfectly placed being the center of focus while having points of interest in the background.

The leaf is a great shot. The DOF is very, very effective. It just reaches out and grabs you and makes you want to look again, longer.
- f8 and be there...

Lovem... especially the oak leaf. These bridges are slowly disappearing from the countryside. Good job preserving history!!!

beautiful lines, and I envy the opportunity. A cousin of ours was lucky enough to have some of her wedding pics taken in a covered bridge, but it had more of an industrial feel, yours is more elegant and begs for the eye to take in more. Your little bailey would look wonderful there, overalls and all, or maybe in a girly little winter coat and hat.
