These are taken straight off the camera. No editting at all. I just got it and had to try it out and show everyone. Thanks to everyone who helped me decide.
I was having issues opening it and now it is working. I got the Tamron 90mm. So far so good. I love it. I have only had it for a little over 3 hours. What a great lens! I have to learn A LOT!
I really love the way it works so far. I really like how easy it is to switch it from autofocus to manual focus. When reading about them they said the Nikon 105mm is quite a bit heavier. I tell you this lens is not really light so the 105 has to be pretty heavy. A quick story: My son asked me about he lens. He figured it doesn't look much different then my other one. I told him it is so I can take macro shots. (Then explained) I can take shots of tiny stuff. Then showed him what I took so far. We also noticed in one of my shots that one of my good rings has a big scratch on it. But he says "So can you take picture of further away stuff?" I said "Yes you can." He said "So if you are out taking pictures and bigfoot comes out you can take his picture?" I wonder where I got my kids....lol
My first macro lens was a Tamron 90mm f 2.5 macro way back in the old manual focus days. When I entered the autofocus age, I purchased the 90mmTamron again. I'm currently using the Tamron 180mm macro. I just really like the image quality of Tamron macros, and I think you will too Penny. They autofocus is slower than a 3 legged turtle, but you will probably find yourself using manual a lot in macro for fine tuning purposes. You're in for a lot of fun!
All my color II shots were taken with a tamron 70-300 with macro from 180-300. My other macro is a sigma 90mm. I definitely like the 90mm on my digital, but for film to compensate the magnification of digital I put the tamron on.
You're next purchase (and it'll be under $100) should be the kenko extension tubes. I'm in love! I carry them around with me at all times. I don't always use them but man when I do, I have so much fun.
Congrats and glad you made the right choice. Macro is a whole new world of fun and excitement. Learn from our queens kitzi and candice and then explore for yourself. You're in the right direction already!
Also, your explanation to your son and his comments sounds like me when I'm trying to tell anything to my boyfriend Michael. Or when I'm trying to sell him on the idea of me buying something else photography related.
