GOLF TOURNAMENT AT CAMP PENDLETON

By colbb written 5/7/08 3:00 PM, published 5/15/08 4:42 PM

The Huntington Beach 3/1 Foundation hosted a fund raising golf tournament to help support the Marines & Sailors of their adopted battalion, 3rd Battalion, 1st Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

I gladly complied with their request to shoot the event, and enjoyed the day, visiting with brother Marines and the golfers.

For this post I have selected 4 of some 150 shots.

On a cool and misty morning, carts are lined up and ready to go, TTa

View from the elevated 11th tee box, TTb

Long distance shot of two foursomes playing on two different fairways, TTc

Award to 4th place team got a big laugh, as the foursome had to endure the yelling and screaming of two Marine Drill Instructors, seen here striking the pose, TTd

Busy day for golf.  For as hilly as Seattle is, we dont have any courses that have as steep of a hill as the one you took from the 11th box.  I suppose once you hit it out of bounds into that unmowed grass, your ball is pretty much gone, eh?

Cory, out of bounds in the brown grass is gone for sure, seeing as how that particular spot is rattle snake territory.  Sort of like Florida and alligators, not worth losing a hand to retreive a $2 ball.

Oooo... rattlesnakes make it more interesting!  The last course I was at had Canadian geese all over.  Those little bastards dont move at all!

Love the repetition of the carts with the beautiful background, in the first shot.  Sounds like lots of fun!  :o)

Now a person better watch out for the two guys in last pic, they are reallyyyyyy serious.  Looks like a great place with beautiful scenery in background to play golf.
