While sitting around camp, I decided that the best way to enjoy nature was to let the little (and big) birds come to me. So one afternoon I did. This little one checked out the fire pit, I called him Smokey the Birdie. Geese were very prevalent, I caught this one watching a family swim by, and these got their gooslings all in a row. Across the little inlet, I was able to capture this heron. While on a walk, hey I didn't stay in camp all the time, I was able to photograph this pretty red bird.Sitting around camp

The red bird is beautiful. Great dof in the shot. I really like swim by. The goose in the foregound with the other geese in the middleground and then the waterline as the background. Great depth and perfect timing.
The heron seems a bit blown, with a little exposure correction it would be a good capture.

I like all in a row. The leader of the pack and the rear guard show the sense of family protection.
I think the bird is a black winged red bird. ;-)
(hey, they got red winged black birds, don't they?)

I really like all the birds, except, as enigmaticfaerie said, the heron is a little blown out. Also, I might try cropping Smokey so he isn't so centered (maybe about an inch off the left), and cropping family and red bird a little closer. At any rate, I love the colors and contrast in red bird and you caught a grreat setup in family!
