After the bellydancing Monday, I thought I'd show you a sexy rennaisance dance (or that's what Lady Ophelia called it when she asked the Queen if she'd like to partake in a dance).
I now present you Queen Elizabeth in some rennaisance dancing.
Thanks for looking. As always, comments are fully appreciated (just because they're fun you can still critique if you want or see fit).

some good action stuff there EF. Colorful as well.

Good colors, looks like fun.
I'd consider maybe a faster Tv and a wider Av though. They seem a little dark and the blur doesn't really enhance much of anything.

I was using the widest aperture with an ISO of 640 I believe (I may be wrong about the ISO). The darkness I would have lightened in photoshop, if I had it right now (I normally like to do a small adjustment to the levels in my pictures but my computer crashed 2 months ago and I haven't been able to afford to get Photoshop onto the new harddrive. Plus my processor is too slow to run it right now. It was doing good not to get sluggish when I had PS 7 before it crashed). All these are straight out of the camera onto the computer and uploaded here.
As for the blur, I find that the faces being in full focus and the blur of the dresses adds to the fact that they are actually dancing (otherwise I wouldn't have posted them at all). It wasn't a fast dance, but it helps imply the movement. Had it been sunny, bright and beautiful that day... I may have liked and expected to have clearer, sharper images. But given the conditions, I'm happy.
But that's my opinion and it's no more right or wrong than yours and I thank you for the input, Anon.

Fill flash would have been good sg. I didn't think of it. My brother and I were sitting waiting for it to begin and she came and sat in my seat actually (I had gotten up to throw something away). So I sat down behind her. It was an after thought to take her picture really. I wasn't sure if it would be worth it with all the fluff around her head and face from behind. She and her ladies in waiting were carrying a conversation with us (and a few were trying to get friendly with my brother).
If I ever get ahold of Photoshop again, I'll see if I can't lighten it a bit.

The blur was acceptable perhaps in 6, but not 2 or 3.
ISO of 400 might have been useful. I'd suggest an Av of 5.6, maybe even 7.1 for a greater DOF. Tv priority or Sports mode would have managed well.
I liked Queen too, like SG, but I would have liked the others in the shot in focus .

It was at f5.6 (maybe f8). 28mm-50mm since I was basically sitting on the stage to keep other people out of the shot. And it was cloudy and quite overcast that day. They were under shade trees and I was sitting in a covered awning. That's why I was using a higher ISO. I usually keep the camera on Aperture priority (or manual depending subject matter) and watch my shutterspeed. If I need it faster, I'll open up. I can't remember what the shutterspeed was but I want to say it was at least 1/60 if not higher. I will say I was surprised by the amount of movement captured when I first viewed them. (all these numbers could be completely and utterly wrong. I'm not on my personal computer to check the images themselves and I took the pictures on Mother's day).
And I can see the argument on 2 & 3 if you're solely looking at the guy dancing. And probably fully in 3 (about the only thing that's still is the collar on the queen's dress). But in 2, her face is in sharp focus.
Also, I am in no way at all trying to be confrontational or argumentative. I know sometimes it might seem that way since I am the "artist" and you are talking about my work. I'm just.... justifying the reasoning of why the images are as they appear and at times helping the viewer to see why they may have came out the way they did. I'm actually pleased someone decided to critique. Even if they're not a member... or a member hiding as an au (we had a problem with that a couple of months ago)
