Weekend in the garden.

By momof3pics written 5/27/08 6:54 PM, published 5/27/08 6:54 PM

After dealing with the loss of my husbands Father, My Grandmother (97 years old) and a close friend of my family's, I am trying to get back into the swing of things. working in the garden is the one way to get back into the groove of life.

I busied myself with planting flowers and adding more to my beds. I also took a beginners digital camera class to learn to use the different functions of my camera better. This has helped me take better pictures with out using auto on my camera or computer fixes. all the photos in this set were taken with Manuel setting on my camera. the only thing I did on the computer is crop.

I hope you enjoy the set.

I also dedicate this set to my Grandmother who love my photos and taught me to enjoy nature and what is around me. (She too was a gardener)

Sorry about your loss. I should live to the age of your grandmother. Wonderful.

The flowers are beautiful and so nice you should dedicate them to the one that taught you to appreciate them. And I love that Iris as well.

Good looking little guy. Maybe a shovel instead?

Double yellow is really nice, the focus & comp. are right on.  Also like the azalea bloom, great dof.  Looks like that class was a good one.  You found a nice way to deal with grief,  working with living things.

Sorry for the losses you have expreicned lately. I do the same thing when things get bumpy...I either grab my camera...or work in my flower gardens. :-) It really does seem to help to lift the spirts.

Congratulations on getting out of “Auto Pilot” … Photography and Gardening what a wonderful combination ... looking forward to some 'garden pictures'!! … I’m sorry for your recent losses Chrissy … A very wise person once told me … “that the older we get - the more fragile life around us gets”! ... So keep your chin up and your camera and garden tools close by!!

    - Out of Focus!!
