CONNECTICUT IN MAY - III

By colbb written 6/1/08 3:03 PM, published 6/1/08 3:20 PM

This final post of 3 features our day in and around Litchfield, CT, a favorite location for well heeled New Yorkers to locate their country home.

This home near town center, bordered by rock wall (no mortar), a common sight in CT countryside. CTo

A real treat to drive a lovely country road, no traffic, and enjoy the scenery. CTp

Like this long distance view of the Litchfield area. CTq

And this windmill. CTr

And this home.  CTs

Near the town center, one of many beautiful old churches.  CTt

We had a great time and hope to go again next year.

Great scenery, beautiful photo's, a part of the U.S.  we are not yet familiar with and yet so close to Montreal . Noella and I are avid cyclists and so this looks to be an ideal destination, to add onto our " TO DO " list .

" So much to do,so little time "    Chose CTp ,as fav.   Thank you, colbb.

I like the old country home and the church, they look well restored for their age.

Wildman, knew you were in CT but didn't know you were so close to the big money places.  We had lunch near you, some place in the town center, forgot the name, but it was excellent, nice menu, superb bread baked on premises, hope to go again sometime.

Next trip I'll try to sponge a beer off you.

I have been past that church many times and probably past Wildman too. Let's see, Litchfield county.. I think Woodbury is in Litchfield county, is it not? My mom lived there for some 50 or more years and my sister lives in Torrington where I was Sunday. You were right in our stomping grounds colbb.

I love the country road scene. Typical of inner and upper Connecticut. And most, if not all, of those stone walls in CT were erected from stones cleared from the fields so they could plant corn or hay or just pasture the dairy cows. What nice photos of my home state and what fond memories you have evoked.

    - So shoot already!!

Beautiful country area,,,,makes me want to get this state marked off of my 'to see' list.  Thanks for sharing...

Well done three part series colbb, you did our state justice.

If I knew you were coming I would have begged you to bring me a new sweatshirt from Huntington Surf and Sport, mine is getting a little ragged and it's the best sweatshirt I've ever owned!

Maybe next time Wildman and I could meet you  and the General for dinner.
