Met my new photo buddy in Taos - here are samples of our day:

One side of the Taos Plaza square:  Taos_Plaza

Thunderhead over Taos mountains:  Thunderhead

Took tons of 'abstracts' of the famous San Francisco de Asis church - plus some of the rarely-seen front end of the church:  Church

Went to the Rio Grande Gorge bridge - and snapped some rafters 650' below us:  Rio_Grande_River_Gorge

Had lunch at the tiny artsy town where Julia Roberts lives:  Downtown_Arroyo_Seco

Enjoyed the scenic drive up to the Taos Ski Valley (elev. nearly 10K):  Lift_at_Taos_Ski_Valley

Our last stop was La Hacienda de los Martinez, built in 1804 and is one of the few northern New Mexico style, late Spanish Colonial period "Great Houses" remaining in the American Southwest:  Martinez_Hacieda

I'll finishing editing the shoot and show you more of these areas in the coming days.

I hope you enjoy these.

  • Taos plaza looks so old-mexico, very intriguing place.  Love the Martinez hacienda - that's a really nice shot.  Sounds like you had lots of fun.

  • I like Thunderhead for the stark beauty it shows and the doors at Martinez Hacieda is what I picture being there...the downtown scene is a reminder to me of most tourist stops (just like our area), glad you had a good time...

Really like the shadows and angles in the front of the church.  My real fave, tho, is the Martinez Hacienda.  So perfect for the area, the muted colors and weathered door are just right.  Good one.

  • Rio Grande and Hacienda are done very nicely! My folks live there, and you did good at finding what most don't!

    - You smell funny!

  • kalole0 - That is the BACK of the church!  It's the famous side that everyone photographs and paints - tomorrow I'll post some of the front - it's pretty, but not as interesting or dramatic.
