My first guess would be a fern unfolding and the more I look at it the more it looks like a plastic zipper. I still go with a fern or other plant in the process of unfolding to a mature leaf. Very nice shot and good detail!

Yep - although it is certainly not that obvious - I considered all sorts of coiled things, bigger at one end. That's a very good entry!

I know, it's a Sago Palm frond unfurling. I just got a bunch of them from our yard. Great macro.

I think Kalole0 is right. A palm frond was the first thing that hit my mind but I could not recognize that it was, now a Sago..... I didn't think of that and they are all over our community!
