You used to be able to post as many stories as you like provided you follow the unwritten rule "No more than a post a day". We'll now I've enforced this unwritten rule in Photographica itself.
From now on, you cannot publish more than one story in a 24 hour period. That means if you posted a story this morning at 10am PDT, you will not be able to post again until 10am tomorrow. During this time, you can create a draft of your story; you just will not be able to publish it until tomorrow.
Let me know if you have any questions about this new policy.

But I don't think a hard block would effect me very much, either.

You listen to a couple of bitching whiners and go and change things! Some folks posyt at 5:00 pm and then have some good stuff at 2:00 pm the next day for posting. For the most part everyone only posted once a day. Sure you had new folks that didnt know about the "unwritten Rule" but they all came around.
I say give them some cheese to go with the whine and sorry post's

Thank you Cory for everything.....I remember another feature that we used to have and that was being able to choose the number of post to view on front page, and do believe I had my set for 30--kinda wish we could still do that, but oh well, what we have 'ain't bad at all'. Again thanks for all the work....

you gotta understand people have requested this for years. The "dude, you already posted once today" unwritten rule has been a major source of flame wars on this site since dinosaurs were mailing me 1.5" floppy disks full of photos to post on this website.
I'll probably implement a "soft" warning / hard fail, because I think making it exactly 24 hours is kind of silly. I'm thinking something like 12 hours and it will refuse to let you post and from 12->24 hours it will just give you a very stern warning. Not today though, I just wanted to kick something out the door to get started.

While we are on the topic of improvements.....wouldn't it just be a matter of "flipping a switch" of some computer sort, so that posting is a member benefit only??
I think it would alleviate a lot of recent issues.

Hello Sunday,
I appreciate your input and can understand that this seems like caving in to the "whining crowd". However, this isn't a recent issue... it dates back to the early dawn of this website. I just finally got off my lazy arse and fixed it for good. The implementation could use a bit of work, but again, I wanted to push it out as quickly as I could to get feedback.
Look at the positive--most people who double post are not doing so maliciously. They just never heard of this crazy "dont double post" rule and innocently did it. Then they'd get flame mail for doing it. All I've done it make it impossible to break an unwritten rule by writing it down :-) Everybody wins.
Once I improve the implementation so if you post at 2am one day, you dont have to wait until 2am the next day to post, it will be most excellent and perhaps even totally tubular.

Cory...I apologize, but my comment wasnt in regards to the 24-hour limitation. I'm fine with that.
My concern is with only allowing non-members to post comments about pictures. It is fine that non-members can view photos, but only members should be able to comment as a benefit of their membership.
It seems that recently there has been a lot of abuse by non-members being intentionally mean-spirited for no purpose other than causing cyber grief to everyone who had the misfortune to read the comments and responses.

Sunday-
Cory already fixed this - no commenting by non-members, and that way, whatever they sign in as . . . you can click ignore and never see them again.
