I went about 10 days ago to get the biopsy done on my lung and while it was a grueling all day long affair the actual procedure was pretty painless. The hard part was the 4-5 hours after spent on your back. this made my back hurt so bad any pain from the biopsy was insignificant. Quite a few funny things happened before, during, and after the procedure. First, prior to the thing a nurse explains generally what's going to happen. I was in my gown on a hospital gurney and she said they'd wheel me into the room alongside the scanner table and for me to just roll over on my belly cause they were going to do a posterior insertion. Immediately, my butt muscles clenched up tighter than a size 6 hatband. Barb also clenched my hand tighter. I don't know if it was from concern or to keep in the laughter...expecting me to say something...I waited. When she finished her talk, about 10 minutes later, she asked if I had any questions and, of course, I said "Well, I'm kinda worried about the posterior insertion." She laughed and said "That means your back, they put it in much higher!". My butt muscles relaxed.
I was going to continue this but I'll save it for another day. Because, strangely enough, my Pulmonary Oncologist just called. I had already found out it was cancer but my daughter asked me what kind and I didn't remember. The nurse told me originally but CANCER was all I really heard. So I called and left a message and the doc called me back today. She said it was bronchoalveolar carcinoma. She said it's slow growing and contained and hasn't spread to any nearby lymph nodes and they think whacking it out is the best course of action. She said probably little or no chemo. She said the prognosis is good. I'll wait and not get my hopes up till it's over but it's definitely good news. Well, maybe not good but better.
I don't like these pics except the one of Jaryd and it's a snapshot at a cookout last weekend. I thought I'd post them and see how many of you had the balls to critique a guy that's just been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Bee Sharpest focus is on leaves not the bee.
Toadstool Small section of shot didn't want to walk back to the car to get the closeup lens.
Deer Path This was a good idea but was too busy and would have been better before the grass grew.
Don't criticize the snapshot of Jaryd. If you badmouth him then we got problems. Mr. Cool

Hang in there Don....

There is one thing you should know... we certainly love you for who you are, and not these photos you posted today :) (Just had to see if I had balls after all).
Mr. Cool is growing up big time! And, he's a handsome little guy.
Hugs to you and Barb. You'll pull each other through just fine. I'll be thinking and praying for you.

I definitely don't have balls, being female, but IF I DID, I still couldn't find fault with Mr. Cool - that would be terrific if it was set up, much less a snapshot. Please don't wait to get your hopes up . . . hope, faith, and will are a huge part of the battle. I wish you well!!

You have a whole big bunch of folks here pulling for you, Don. You're gonna do fine.
Uh....... I do have balls, however, since Chester is going to be in your control at some point, I will save anything I have to say until he is safely released and out of Indiana.
A really cute shot of Jaryd. I shall say no more. ;-)
I tend to use three word quite a lot. I'll let you share them. You see one to the left. The three words are:
Hope, Wish, Dream
Hey, they work for me.

Jaryd will be your inspiration to concer this battle. Fight it well and keep that camera at hand even if you get tired from the chemo. A back yard chair is just as good to take photos from than a couch. Keep on smiling for Jaryd. ;)

Doesn't take balls to criticize someone who's asked for it, but I gotta admit Jaryd would make a good Blues Brother! My thoughts are with you, too, Low.

It's amazing the strides they've made in identifying and obliterating cancer. Sounds like you are in good hands and have much to be thankful for. As far as your photos...well Jaryd...how can you not take a good picture with him as your model!
