Taos looked better to me on this visit than it ever has. It's growing and appears more prosperous. When I first visited there, 20-plus years ago, I found it depressing. Also, the west side of the mountain range looks green and almost plush compared to my side which is really suffering from a long drought. But the good news is that we had another nice rain yesterday! Maybe the monsoon season is finally returning.

BusyB - Yes, those are Christmas lights - noticed that a lot of galleries in Santa Fe also had the lights - I guess they use them year round.
I also saw a couple of those old wagons at Los Golondrinas living history museum near Santa Fe. I get down there more often than I go to Taos, so on my next trip there I'll try to find out what they were used for. I suspect they were pulled by oxen. I never thought to question their use - glad you asked!
