Beautiful dahlia!! Good orton job (though I think it should be cropped the same as first one - left side light areas gone). I actually prefer the original in this case . . . not because you didn't do well - I just love the dahlia as is.

I agree with you on the original It was a beauty of a flower. But I thought it was a good subject to try with too. ;)

Have to agree with others. Like the original best (beautiful shot).
But most importantly you have learned the effect and with the right image it can do wonders.
I have brought together images that did not work at all and deleted immediately.
I want to thank Vegas Stan for introducing me to Orton. Have had a lot of fun with it.
In case you haven't seen this site - - - check it out.

It seems like a low contrast scenic works well with Orton.
Keep doin it and bring back some more images. Looking forward to it.

Cool...you've got it...may I suggest when you are blending the layers together to drop the opacity down a bit, this will bring out more flower detail. And if you're using PS...you can use your history brush and bring out just the details in the flower...experiment...and post.

Original for me too. Sounds like there's very much to learn with the orton effect.
