  • So the DOF is really shallow on all of these.  But I like it.  It adds a dreamlike and soft quality to the rose.  The muted colors also emphasizes the softness.  As an effect, I think it worked really well.  I will say that on some, a definite focal point is hard to find but I'm not sure if it bothers me with this set.  I really like the way the DOF and the lines of the petals make new shapes rather than the shape of the rose.  I especially like this in 2 & 4.

And all this can be summed up in two words:  Nice Post.

I was going for the soft look with shallow DOF.  I have more for my next post that are a little different.

I really like 4 and 6 - the soft muted pink tones just do it for me.  And the water drops are a great touch.  The other ones are good, the those two are the standouts.  I think the DOF is great and the focal point is perfect in 6.

really pretty...soft..4 and 6 for me too. You're getting great with that macro and trying new stuff out...I was amazed the difference going from say f2.0 up to 8.0. That's usually the range I shoot in!

I love the tones of the creamy whites but it's the last one that speaks to me...perfect comp and focus!

Shame on you Penny.  You make it soooooo hard to pick a fave.  Love the soft focus and shallow DOF.  The color you used in #4 and the drops make it the stand out for me.  But all are amazing.  Just add some interesting captions & we'll be calling you Candice Jr.

Gasp...thud!! Getting up off the floor!! I need a seat belt on this chair to view this site!

I agree the soft tones and shallow DOF make these positivly soft and dreamy. 5 is my favorite and I am going to have to buck the majority but 6 seems a tad dark for my taste. Course that could be my monitor too.

    Wonderful shooting!!

  • Seems we are all in agreement--and all are beyond my ability to 'shoot' something like these...no maco for one and cannot keep hands steady enough.

I love #1--the soft yellow is beautiful...and the water drops on the last one is a hit for me..each of these has such a dreamy--out of reach feel to them.
