I couldn't resist snapping these two shots as we drove down the washboard gravel road to Chaco Canyon:

blow.....hard

Wow..what beautiful countryside...wonder what a crop somewhere between the 2 extremes would look like...something to take out the road. Regardless, its gorgeous shooting.

  • How could you not?  Especially when we were driving through Texas, I thought of you and Ashton.  Unfortunately, we were so packed in the car I didn't get any shots on the drive to or from santa fe (plus it was just I-40).  Only shot during the 3 week round trip to all the parks.

Like 'em both.  Think the last shows the size better, and the shape, (does that make any sense?).  The first emphasized the vastness and dryness of the country.  A little crop off the road might be better, but since it isn't paved, it sorta blends in with the rest of the landscape.  Good ones.

I like the last one best.  I agree with some cropping in the first one.  You have some great clouds.  Nice composition in the second one.  :o)

  • I agree with kalole0 on the first in that the bit of shoulder adds to it. Like the comp and exposure on both. I have yet to see any of those water motors moving. Maybe there isn't too much wind.

  • That smally...always in there haunting us! Good thing though, it keeps us on our toes!  I enjoyed both shots, but agree with kalole0 on the first one too.  I'd lose the road. How's your editting coming on all your shots?

  • I agree about cropp[ng out the dirt road part as it doesn't seem to add value to the image. On Hard I would crop out some of the out of focus sagebrush in foreground. That looks so dry and desolate...I need a Giunness now.

  • Maybe a little cropping, maybe not.  They both stand well as is.

    Good shots.

  • wide open spaces, gotta love them sometimes..I like the last one the way it is, gives more of a perspective of how far from the road it is...sky sure was beautiful that day.

Well, I think both are good shots. I can see the benefit of cropping the road in the first, then your horizon wouldn't be so close to center. Love the contrast of colors, dry parched vs beautiful blue sky.
