A tribute to Stieglitz:
Equivalent

A tribute to Adams:
Moonrise over Brittany and Claire's Tent

  • Stieglitz & Adams...sounds like a commercial for a law firm...

Loved the clouds in 'Equivalent'.  Great choice in featuring the sky.  Not being familiar with Stieglitz, I'll assume your tribute is on the button, 'cause after all, you are the enigmatic faerie!

Shouldn't your Adams tribute have been in black & white?  I know he shot some color, and maybe this homage is to a particular photo, but I tend to associate Adams with b/w.  Again, I'll bow to your experience.  I've never followed photographic history much...

  • Bruce said it better than I could.  But nice photos, AF!

  • Love the scenery out there.  Claire's tent looks like it is pitched way out in the middle of nowhereville.

  • That's how the campsite was Mr. Q.  It was awesome.  I'll have to dig out the pic of my tent.  We were nestled in a little cove of fallen rocks.

    And FYI:
Alfred Stieglitz later in life did a whole series of cloud pictures and named each one "equivalent."

Ansel Adams, yes he shot in b&w, but he has a famous picture from New Mexico titled, "Moonrise over Hernandez."  Basically, my only tribute to him is the fact that it's a moonrise over something.  A bit of a joke on my part...
I did however get to see 4 REAL prints of that very picture "Moonrise over Hernandez" while in Santa Fe at one of the many galleries I went too.  Being the great printer Adams was, he tried various different dodging and burning effects on that print and one gallery had 4 different attempts to show.  And our gallery at school owns an even different one.

Thanks EMF for the info...I knew about "equivalent" but not about Adams "moonrise". Well done on both!...they are serenely beautiful!

Great photos and photography history to boot! And as Candice said, 'serenely beautiful'. Obviously your campsites were not overcrowded :-)
